Stuck in a basement

Sunday, August 30, 2009

WOw...it's been forever since we've written in our diary. We have a lot to tell you...where to start???

REvived is revamping our website http://www.revivedonline.com/ so stay tuned. We recently had a photo shoot with an amazing photographer, Sean Getti. Check him out at http://www.seangetti.com/. He was one of the first photographers to capture the essence of REvived.

The day of the shoot was definitely one to go down in our history books. It started with the shoot almost getting cancelled. Then Carleen and the makeup artist Tanya Baker-Montano ended up getting locked out of the studio, and locked in a basement sittin' on a tricycle, gettin' on each others nerves...LOL! It was reminiscent of Fresh Prince...ya'll know the episode. Holla back Tisha Campbell. We did get a free tour of XM satellite radio though! Shoutout to team REvived:

Photographer: Sean Getti
Stylist: Tania Pedro
Make-up artist: Tanya Baker-Montano
Hair: Miss Kelisha Layne
DJs/artistic advisors: Team Getti (thanks guys!)
Manager: Kevin Patterson

It was a great day...take a look for your self:

Stop the violence....

Saturday, May 2, 2009

Yesterday we participated in a STOP THE VIOLENCE initiative at Fletcher's Meadow high school in Brampton. It was so amazing to see the talent, focus and passion that radiated from all the students. Big shout out to Ray Robinson who spear headed this event along with Kim Thompson, the department head at the school. Usually artisits are driven by the desire to get that money and get all the awards and recognition that are highly coveted in the industry. But, Ray and all the other artists and industry professionals that participated showed selflessness and genuine caring for the youth of tomorrow. Very inspiring!

The Twitter Revolution....and more

Back in full affect....

Follow Revived on twitter at http://twitter.com/revived_. Twitter is a revolution that is taking over the world. People are just dying to get into others business...nothing is wrong with that though. We all should be concerned about the welfare of our neighbors.

We've been soliciting all over facebook asking for your support and assistance in getting our single "Free" on the top spot of 93.7 WBLK's top 10 countdown. So...it was only a matter of time before we started to blog about it! We need everyone to do 2 things:
1. Go to http://www.unsignedhypemusic.com/vote.php and vote for the song.
2. Spread the word like wild fire and get EVERYONE you know to do the same thing.

oh...and 3. DO all of the above as often as possible (Good things always come in 3's).

Keep it real!

We ARE NOT your satisfier......

Saturday, March 28, 2009

If you can't tell by the title of this blog....allow us to elaborate.

You CAN'T please everyone...it's impossible. Our only response is, we're only trying to please God. The reality is that people are going to make up things and claim it to be true...so it doesn't matter what you do or DON't do...people are going to get upset. So our advise is:

Focus on Glory
Cause you can't make it on your own
Oh what joy it is to know that through Him we're on top of the world

Hint: if you don't recognize this...it's a song we use to sing on our youth choir back in the day (John P. Kee maybe). You see how music stays with you? For all you parents, get your kids involved in a youth choir or something positive. There have been so many times when we're going through the stresses of life and we remember lyrics of inspirational songs that help us make it through....it's powerful stuff people.

But anyways...back to the rant...

Don't try to be someone's satisfier...reality is you can't and its not your job.

The aftermath....

The release party was a success. We've received a lot of feedback from people who enjoyed that our release concert was different from the stereotypical church concert. The venue was classy, yet, fresh; the crowd was a refreshing mix of people coming from different backgrounds; and the overall atmosphere was unconstricted and liberating. There were lights, cameras, and plenty of action...but most importantly, God was in the midst to bless.

As much as we would love to give every single detail about the events of that night...it's just impossible. All we can say is we're still on a high from everything that went down. It was AWESOME. If you weren't there....you missed a good night. Just ask somebody! Pics and video will be posted to the "REVIVED ON FACEBOOK" group and our youtube channel(www.youtube.com/Revivedmusic).

Shout out to the band for that night: Jason the MD for that night, Jordan (aka. Rockstar...you killed that guitar), Otis, Tim, Steve. And our background vocalist extrordinares: Owen, Grace, Dionne, Nikki. Thanks go to Mr. Carvin Winans who graced us that night with his smooth vocals.

There is no where else but up from here for Revived....sky is the limit!

Diary cont'd .... crunch time

Friday, March 20, 2009

Cheers everyone. We pray that this message finds you all well.

If ever there is a Time that we need your prayers and support, it's now. We're in the thick of the battle and it is not time to become weary, despondent or discouraged; nor is it time to throw in the towel. With only 1 MORE DAYS LEFT till the release of Revived, we are definitely being tested and tried. But the God that we serve promised to never
leave us nor forsake us....and he has been true to his promise concerning Revived. We have a few testimonies to share:

1.Carleen was involved in a car accident earlier this week. Neither parties involved were injured but let's just say that what could have been a "sticky" situation turned out to be the complete opposite...God worked it out and right on time!

2. We have contemplated appearing at the release concert sans clothing...for God said that you must render your heart and not your garments. We're joking...partially! BUT come on, who knew choosing outfits would be so difficult and stressful. But God worked it out! We managed to put together our outfits in less than 1 hour tonight at Square One shopping mall. Right now, we're 75% of the way there.

3. Exhausation. The spirit is willing but the FLESH is weak BUT through it all, we've learned to trust in Jesus, we've learned to trust in God -- if u know the song then take a moment and finish it...reflect!

4. We got news that the CDs are all packaged and ready to go for Sunday... come prepared to purchase your copies on the night of the release concert.

There's a lot more to say but we'll end here.

Till next time...blessings!

4 more days....

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

Good night everyone,

Surprisingly, this is the earliest that we have been home this week and able to write to you all...but on the real...we're tired but still excited at the same time. We just came from our dress rehearsal for the release party and let's just say you guys are in for a treat on March 22nd. We have got to testify to everyone in blog and facebook land of the greatness that God (the greatest) has surrounded us with The band (Jason, Otis, Steve, Tim and Jordan) and the background vocalists (Owen, Grace, Dionne and Nikki) were on their game tonight, boy! Our special guests for Sundat night also came through and put their skill and talent on display and it was HOT! We also had some suprise guests pass through to show their support and to offer critique....the watchful eyes.

On the real, you will not be disappointed. Okay...it's time for bed cause we have an early interview tomorrow at 7am on 89.5fm World Wide Wake Up Show with Court Jester. You can tune in online at http://www.ciut.fm/listenlive.php and get a chance to win a pair of tickets to the release concert going down this Sunday @ Palais Royale. Always on the grind for the king....

Nightey nite,

Revived

6 more days till the release ...revived on Radio at JOY1250 AM

Monday, March 16, 2009

Hey people,

It's Carleen here. It's now past midnight and instead of sleeping I've chosen to blog....it's a new season and a new day! No really...I'm supposed to be focusing on an essay right now but I find blogging to be much more interesting. What can I tell you at this point....

Revived was at Ekklessia Kingdom ministries this weekend supporting their ministry. On Saturday night they hosted "Ambiance" where we ministered and got the chance to hook up with our friend Rochelle Hanson. Let me tell you, if you have not taken her in yet....you definitely need to. Check her out at www.rochellehanson.com -- you won't be disappointed. We were also reunited with a long time friend/family member Renee Dunn. She was there singing backup for Rochelle and it was off the chain. There was a time that we couldn't get this girl to sing a note by herself, and on Saturday she was doing that and more...congrats Renee and we'll see you at your album release party! We also ministered @ EKM on Sunday (yesterday) during their family day service. You missed a good thing if you weren't there. Thank you to everyone at EKM who showed their support to Revived...and we'll see you in 6 more days at the release of "Revived".

So, with only 6 more days to go there is a lot to do. I can't even wrap my head around half of the duties that we still face. This week will definitely be one that we won't EVER forget. At 8:30-10 pm (later today) we will be on Joy1250...so make sure to turn your radio dials to 1250 AM radio. We'll keep you posted as to where else you can hear and see Revived....

Oh, lastly, tickets, tickets, tickets. We are so overjoyed at the response that we are getting for this release party. Tickets are going real fast and the support is just MIND BLASTING (Russell Peters....hi-larious!) I just can't wait....

Time to get back to my essay....Good night!

Fashion insight.....20 more days left

Extra Extra read ALL about it....20 more days

Only 20 days left till the big event at the Palais Royale. With all of the positive things happening around us and the excitement of our successes, it has been easy for us to let our guard down just a bit. But this week we were reminded that "many are the afflictions of the righteous" but God has delivered us thus far....Amen!

Recently, we nmet with our stylist Lisa Smalls to work out our look(s) for the evening. We're thinking of going with something that is out of the box and fresh....we going big people. Maybe something like this:
What do you think???? The big hair is doin' it! And, for those of you who know us know that we have natural hair which would make it much easier for us to recreate this image. LoL! No, we haven't lost our minds. We're just joking...we are not showin' up at the show lookin' like that. But, we promise innovation, class and everything else that's good.

Stay tuned to the blog...we'll be posting more on the scenes video for you guys to get a taste of what a day in the life of Revived is really like. It's time to say our prayers and go to bed....stay blessed!

29 days till the album release party...decisions...decisions!!!!

Sunday, February 22, 2009

This whole blogging this is definitely new for us. As sisters who have grown up to be so close, we're just so used to talking each other....and only to each other (except when praying). Ask anyone who knows us, they would tell you the same thing. We tend to block others out...so anyone who is and has been offended by this....DON'T BE! But we're trying a new thing...

So let's talk: It's officially 29 days till our album release party....March 22nd is just around the corner. There is so much to do and so many decisions to be made: what are we gonna wear? How are we gonna do our hair? What will the color scheme be for the evening? And all we wanna do is sing. It's like going to a restaurant and being given a 50 page entree menu...it's difficult to choose... All we gotta say is that at the end of the day we're just trying to please our heavenly father ("Just as long" - one of the songs on the album).
